Weekly Newsletter 2014.10

Players,

Some web updates.

Streaks:
Two streaks happening with both the 0-40, and 0-30 squad who are both at the top of their tables for promotion. This is pretty cool. Be sure to read Ron See’s write ups in the 0-40 page.

Winter league:
Indoor is approaching, and I will be posting the official newsletter about it in the upcoming weeks. Our time on the turf has already been booked. Some things to look forward to: The turf has been replaced and updated. It is still multi-use turf, but it is of a much better quality, than before. I would still only recommend flats or turfs, but nonetheless gone are the days where staph infection was more of a likelihood instead of just a worry. Some new things about winter league this year that we plan to accomplish as a club. Again, there will be an open draft. Players who are NOT drafted will go to a waiver, and just like any other league, teams in turn will have the opportunity to claim or pass on waivers. This will off-set the “I just picked up these 5 high school players, and 3 college players home from school for break, and now they’re on my team.” No, they’re not, their on waivers. Available to play, on those teams in need. Next week, I will post an enrollment period for players that will declare themselves eligible for the draft. I have booked time for 4 hours, which allows up to 8 squads, which breaks down to 70-80 players. I doubt we will hit those numbers. Part-time and Full-time player dues will be collected. Each player will receive an ICFC Printed Long Sleeve. This is Co-ed. There will also be a Goal Keeper Designation Rule. This rule will allow you to declare 1 player per match who does not have to play keeper. All other players will be obligated to split equal time in goal per half.

Example: My team has 7 players show up for our match. I designate 1, who doesn’t have to play keeper, the other 6 will each play keeper for 4:00min each half. These are the rules, this will make matches more interesting throughout the course of a 12 week season. Yes, it is different, but it is a dynamic that offers some variation on soccer that can get redundant over the course of our season. People will like, people will hate, at the end of the day, you’re still playing soccer.

Current High School Seasons:

Regular seasons are just about wrapping up. There are some special things happening on both the Boys and Girls side regardless of records.
